Welcome to the Armstrong State University student health insurance plan (SHIP). Here you have the option of enrolling or waiving out of the plan offered by UnitedHealthcare StudentResources.

The Deadline to Apply for a Waiver for Spring Semester is Friday January 20, 2017. (The link to the online waiver form is listed below).

Mandatory Students:
Students in these categories must purchase the USG SHIP policy unless they apply for, and receive, a waiver for each semester they are enrolled.
  • All graduate students receiving a Full Tuition Waiver as part of their graduate assistantship award
  • All undergraduate, graduate and ESL international students holding F or J visas.
  • All undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in programs that require proof of health insurance.
  • All graduate students receiving fellowships that fully fund their tuition.
  • International Scholars.

Waiver Process:
Students who fall into one of these categories and are already covered by an insurance policy (i.e. through parent plans, family plans or employer-sponsored plans) can apply for a waiver through a secure on-line process to opt out of the plan. These waivers will be reviewed and If the policy does not meet the minimum standards that have been established by the University System of Georgia, the student will be required to purchase the insurance.

Once the information has been verified and approved, a waiver will be processed and posted to your Armstrong Atlantic University student account. Please allow 7 days for the waiver process to be completed. Students listed in the above categories who fail to submit creditable health insurance information and opt out on-line will automatically be enrolled in and billed for the system-wide student health insurance plan. This charge has been posted to the student’s Armstrong State University student account.

The waiver period for your school has not started or it has already ended. Please contact your school for more information.

If you have any problems with the process and need to speak with your campus coordinator, please contact Paula Smith at Armstrong State University. She can be reached at (912) 344-2514 or
