to have health insurance, both to protect against unexpected high medical costs and provide access to quality care. This site contains information about the Tulane sponsored plan (Plan) with UnitedHealthCare Student Resources (UHCSR). The enrollment process must be completed on this site. Please follow the link below.
Full Time Student Enrollment Provisions:
Tulane requires you to meet the health insurance requirements each academic year. It is important for you to make an informed health assessment each year; for instance, will you be participating in a study abroad program or do you only have coverage for emergencies? Will you “age off” of a parent’s policy at your twenty-sixth birthday?
The enrollment process is an annual one. You must make a selection each academic year.
The decision to enroll in the sponsored Plan is for the duration of the policy year.
Full Time Students who do not respond by February 6, 2017 will be automatically enrolled and will be responsible for the premium.
The UHCSR reserves the right to make the final determination regarding eligibility for initial and continued enrollment in this insurance Plan.
The Plan brochure, a full description of coverage, etc. can be found here:
Full Time Students are required to enroll in or waive off the Plan and will be automatically enrolled in the Plan unless a waiver is submitted and approved by February 6, 2017. To enroll, please follow the enrollment instructions below.
Part Time Students (taking at least 6 credits), Executive Program Students, Dissertation Students, Master’s Research, Teaching Assistants, Research Assistants, and Students taking less than 6 credit hours to complete a degree requirement are not considered Full Time and WILL NOT be automatically enrolled. Should you fall under one of these categories and wish to enroll in the Plan please go to the web site at
to complete your request.
Dependents of Students: Covered Students may enroll their lawful spouse, domestic partner, and dependent children and unmarried grandchildren in the legal custody of the grandparent. Children and grandchildren under age 26 are eligible. To enroll eligible dependents, enroll yourself first, then enroll dependents using the UHCSR MyAccount on line self-service.
